Brut Force follows Corkscrew in Rollicking Hilarity, Outlandish Intrigue, and rooting for Felix Hart, Again

SAMPLE BOOK: When Peter Stafford-Bow sent an email to me about his newest novel Brut Force, I told him I was ready for a little Brut Force. Fortunately, I knew who I was talking to, so I wouldn’t be accused of sexual harassment. We both had a good laugh. Peter Stafford-Bow has outdone himself again, […]

Rex Pickett and Boo Walker ~ A Journey Created

My review of Vertical, by Rex Pickett, happened in stages. It’s a very different way to write a review, I have to admit. And it also makes a bit of sense to me, as Rex Pickett is a very non-traditional kinda guy. Once I published my review, Rex Pickett reached out to me. The version […]

Corkscrew, by Peter Stafford-Bow, a wine buyer, through his lens

You can’t anticipate any of it, your eyes will bug out of your head as you read it. You’ll wonder, how will he get himself out of this one? Just can’t get enough of this one, as I watch people struggle all the time, including nervous wait servers. Why is pulling out a cork so darn intimidating? Because very few of us in our American culture were raised on wine, so we don’t know how darned easy it is. As we’re on stage when […]

How do wine pros make removing the capsule look so darn easy?

[What’s to follow is inspired by Steve Heimoff, who’s been having a bit of fiction fun lately.] How do wine pros make removing the capsule look so darn easy? It’s so simple. In fact, it’s really so easy that let’s play pretend for a moment. You’re Lester, the court jester. King Steven, your king, is […]

Plastic corks are going to be the death of me

It all began at a bridal shower, when I had brought some wine. Had I known the wine that I purchased had plastic corks, I wouldn’t have bought those brands. (I’m creating an unshopping list in my head as I write this.) I forgot to have a corkscrew in my purse… I usually travel with […]
