So Many Options, So Little Time

The following facts on enjoying alcohol are down and dirty, we all know that. I believe part of the loss of descending wine sales is a bit political, like having a dry president, for instance. But then, it’s also happening around the world, too, with wine. That’s really because there are now so many other beverage options, and people are thinking about their health more. And yet, Neo-prohibitionists want us all to stop 100 percent.

Beverage options are infinite

Let’s Think About It A Bit

History has also been cyclical with beverages, and if I had infinite spare time I’d match up political parties with trends. It would be very interesting to see if Republicans enjoy their beverages of choice coming from the deep south. And equally, if Democrats enjoy beverages coming from states with – how do I even want to write this – a slower life style?

So, What’s Happening?

Some are enjoying non-alcoholic or low alcoholic beverages, like wine with training wheels. People are still drinking because we’re all still thirsty, really, nothing’s changed. The graph above doesn’t say people are drinking less in general, just alcohol. I’d examine trends to see which party was in the White House and what was enjoyed, with more time.

Something For Wineries To Consider

It’s not how we react to the contents of the message, but what we do with the information. Imagine having an alternative beverage machine in your tasting room, for people looking for another option. I’ve seen them out there, for a long time, actually, and it’s a small investment for a larger gain.

HIGH 9INE Is Delicious And Satisfying

For instance, a new beverage option is HIGH 9INE. It’s really delicious, satisfying, what I now see as an occasional beverage, and I’ll be looking for it. No doubt, like all other beverage options in markets, they’re cutting into wine sales, it’s just logical. We haven’t stopped drinking, and as much as I love wine there are still other beverage options on my mind. And, yes they’re cutting into wine sales.

Flavors To Love

HIGH 9INE has four flavors of Blackberry, Limeade, Pineapple, and Watermelon. I realize they’re cutting into wine sales, and part of it is due to over-saturation of wine companies. So, anyway, I’ll now be looking for HIGH 9INE to store in my fridge. It’s just logical, we haven’t stopped drinking fluids, we’re just trending to other beverages. Remember when we just had Coke, Pepsi, and Orange soda? Marketers need to flow with the trends and find the “hooks,” to make their brands a favorite.

Full Disclosure Helps

This beverage has full nutrition listed on each 12-ounce can. The only one with caffeine is the Blackberry, which I randomly tried first. I just fell in love, and then looked forward to the rest. I took my time and tasted each one during a three-day period. So, 12 days later, I understood how they each tasted, how they evolved, and how lovely the days were. I highly recommend their deliciousness as an evolving segue. My greatest segue, and we’ve all had one. Mine began with white Zinfandel. (Yes!)

How We All Evolve

In my own evolution, I savored each beverage’s flavors in my own time, after falling in love with White Zinfandel. You might want to know that I went from White Zin to starting the PS I Love You wine advocacy group. That was in 2005, and I still direct it. Our palates evolve, and we all adjust the best we can. And yes I still love wine, as well as an option. I don’t think we can “fix” the descending numbers, I believe we just need to evolve as best we can and get on with our lives.
