Vineyard tours are great, so do you think they’re going to make superstars, too?
This is a two part story, of wine’s decline, but as I’ve noted, not in this house.
Wine Decline, But Not In My Home
I’m Not Giving Wine Up
Perhaps one reason for wine’s decline in the US is the effort afoot to make it a favorite billionaires’ delicious pastime as a necessity. I mean, really, a $500 vineyard tour, or a $250 wine tasting? There may also be some other factors contributing to this decline, like changing consumer preferences, health concerns, and economic pressures. I also believe legalizing marijuana could be an issue, because it presents another alternative. There are measurable stats on alternative uses escalating in the US. They can be found published by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), called The World Drug Report 2021.
Fascinating marketing facts are that the top 0.1% of US households own about the same amount of wealth as the middle tier of 90%. Then there’s a third tier, which has the other 9.9 percent of what’s left. There certainly is a discussion of what’s happened. I can report, and you can decide.
Others Trying To Persuade Me
I’ve been pondering this one for a while, and I know there are varying reasons, but there isn’t one of them yet that’s concerned me. Many sources have come to me, trying to get me onto the Neo-prohibitionist bandwagon. Yeah, No! Frankly, I’m running with what the nuns taught me years ago (religious zealots that they were), and it’s moderation. Sorry, but I’m not sorry, because I’m not going to get all uptight about wine. It’s delicious in moderation and pairs really well with foods, friends, and social functions.

Italian Pasqua, a food and wine experience
So, Let’s Go Lively, Engaging, And Delicious
Pasqua Wines, A Fun Flavorful Experience
My background in wine, while living in my home state of Maine, was drastically different, than now. Then, I wasn’t studying wine, per se. I was exploring options to go with dinner, and somehow it always ended up all being a Merlot. No matter what wine we chose in our favorite wine shop, after the first bottle of Merlot always bought us to another one. We asked our wine buyer about it, and Audie would always say “It’s a good wine for the money.” That sums up Maine, and then we moved to California.

How About A Gondola Of Fun?
I have seen and photographed images like this one above, and I crave a return, obviously. There’s real romance in the wine world. For grape growers and winemakers, it’s all about the planting, growing, netting (yes, even netting), harvesting, making wines, and then celebrating. Pasqua Wines from Italy epitomizes this lifestyle, in my opinion. The winery is located in Verona, Italy, and it is within the Veneto region, most specifically to the Valpolicella area.
The next step is to label the bottle of wine, according to its contents. This wine has a non-traditional labeling process. It’s a really creative way and takes into account that some wines might still be on store shelves. Pasqua wines has a creative solution, because the next vintage isn’t dated with a year. From the winery: “Hey French – Edition III, and all the other editions, are actually a multi-vintage blend. Specifically, it’s a selection of the best vintages – 2019, 2018, 2020, 2017, and 2016 – chosen as the highest expression of the vineyard throughout its history.”
About 2018 Harvest, For Instance
HARVEST 2018 was a year with important implications in the Soave area. It was “slightly above average temperatures and tropical weather phenomena, with heavy and abundant rainfall.” Then, “germination, flowering, cluster closure and veraison benefited from this particular seasonal trend, which led to a few days early harvest for all varieties, particularly Garganega.” Each Edizione (think “edition”) tells a story of what you will be tasting, as oppose to other vintages, like in all wines.

Pair Pasqua wines with fish, or with chicken or pork dishes.
