“Wet February” Sweepstakes & Exclusive Wine Deals: If you’d like to win a trip to New York city, you must hurry. The deadline is February 28! Come Over October has now created Share and Pair Sunday. This sounds like it’s as much fun as Come Over October. From the Brits comes news for La Scolca Wines, and you ask “On a wine blog?” (Yeah I know, because I thought the same thing, but they also enjoyed some really exciting wines in the process.) Last, but not least, there are California Coastal Events planned for your fun on your social calendar..

Personal Thoughts

Who wouldn’t like to win a trips to New York City, indeed it sounds like fun to me, having lived on the East Coast? Between music, theaters and Broadway, museums, Central Park, excitement for just being there, and then there’s Carnegie Deli pastrami, this is all too delicious. What’s not to love, as I sit here salivating? Go for it, especially if you’re feeling lucky, because many times I’ve been lucky with winning things. I actually knew ahead of time I was going to win; in fact, I just did. Just choosing a picture to represent this one put a big smile on my face, because it brought back some really delicious memories.

Cheers!

Come Together has launched Share & Pair Sunday

HISTORY: Come Together, a community for wine, was launched by Karen MacNeil, Gino Colangelo, and Kimberly Noelle Charles.

PRESS RELEASE: …The tremendous success of the inaugural ‘Come Over October on Wine-Blog’ campaign reached over 1.7 billion media impressions. It received coverage in major outlets including Forbes, NPR, and The Washington Post, because people are ready for “Share and Pair Sundays.” Come Together has a new wine campaign, launched for more opportunities to celebrate life, this coming Spring-to-Summer. They are hoping to encourage the celebration of a delicious marriage between wine and food. Their new campaigns also reinforces wine’s unique ability to bring people together, which was so successfully communicated in the Come Over October campaign.

When?

The new initiative is running from March 23 through May 25, 2025, and it encourages wine and food enthusiasts to be more social and gather weekly. This ritual fosters those connections we had so long ago, before social media,” encouraging getting back to basics through shared culinary experiences. The campaign will span ten consecutive Sundays, beginning with the first Sunday of Spring.

Karen MacNeil

Karen MacNeil shares her thoughts. “The resounding success of Come Over October demonstrated the wine community’s eagerness to create meaningful connections,” These “Share & Pair Sundays” extend their mission, by celebrating how wine and food bring people together across cultures and traditions.

PERSONAL THOUGHTS: Our social customs with friends, food and wine have occurred for the last 6,000 years. People have personal circumstances and life choices that cause over-indulgence, it’s not the objects of the circumstance. Accepting that allows developing to a better place. Preachy, I know, but understanding how to behave makes life more pleasurable. I remember the first real time I was drunk, and that’s when I decided that moderation was the key to my own life choices. You won’t get any lectures from me, nor will you get real facts and figures from people trying to control our lives. I’ve been true to my wine blog, since 2005, sharing my wine history, and you have yours, too.

From La Scolca Wines: News About King Charles and Camilla

La Scolca Wines‘ took center stage, in the presence of King Charles and Queen Camilla. From PRESS RELEASE from La Scolca, “”To the eternal Italian culture of good food…’ This was the phrase, spoken in perfect Italian, with which King Charles III of England opened” the evening, and was “dedicated to the centuries-old relationship between the United Kingdom and Italy. It was an event held to celebration of Anglo-Italian ties, which has sustainable cuisine, and was attended by high-profile guests, including David and Victoria Beckham, Stanley Tucci, and Helen Mirren. The purpose of the evening was to promote Slow Fashion, which advocates for stronger bond between two nations, who are united by a great appreciation for culture, including dining.

Personal Thoughts

La Scolca Wines took center stage in the presence of King Charles and Queen Camilla, which is interesting news, while not earth shattering. I do love news of Great Britain, because I have my first DNA records dating back to 1623, from Great Britain. My great grandfather of 14 generations ago is the Reverend William Blackstone, who came to the US in 1623. He landed on a hill and the garden that spread before him he called his “Common.” He loved what was called “Shawmut,” at the time, actually named for its Native population. Today it’s called Beacon Hill and still called his “Common,” so, yeah, I love the British, due to DNA.

Personal Thoughts

The California Wine Festival series includes live music, wine and food, with sun and sea, which sounds like a lot of fun to me, when we do it responsibly. Some things to consider are choosing light, refreshing wines, like rosés, white wines, or even sparkling wines. You should also consider which ones are better than reds, as well as serving seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables to pair with your wine.
