With Their Free AEDs ~ FOR ANY US WINERY

TRAINED FOR SAVING LIVES is a subtitle to Ron Rubin’s Marathon Chapter, solely directed by Ron. It began when Ron thought he was going to be running a marathon, but unexpectedly suffered a Cardiac Arrest. Of course, this completely altered Ron’s direction, for a while.
When Ron and I met, Ron was already a former Marathon Man. I instantly liked the kind man who stood before me. Ron has big ideas. Like this one – Rubin read “The Republic of Tea,” and then asked authors Mel Ziegler, Patricia Ziegler, and Bill Rosenzweig if they would sell the tea company to him. Just like that.

Does your winery have an AED, for those Cardiac Arrest emergencies?
Ron Makes A Dream A Reality
From The Republic Of Tea “The Republic of Tea was founded in 1992 in Mill Valley, California by Mel Ziegler, Patricia Ziegler, and Bill Rosenzweig. The Zieglers had previously founded Banana Republic, which they sold to Gap in 1983. Our three founders published a book about starting the company, titled The Republic of Tea: Letters to a Young Entrepreneur. An entrepreneur named Ron Rubin read the book and was so inspired he purchased the company just 18 months after its founding.”
When Ron Sees A Future,
He Writes Himself Into The Present
Dreaming big dreams and attracting other like-minded people, there’s just something saying, “This chapter will reach it’s finality.” Although we’re now on the way to actualizing his dream, we aren’t there yet. Ron’s dream of having winery visitors, employees, and owners all becoming important, sustainable assets is slowly becoming a reality, though.
Altogether, Ron and his winery connections, who began the journey, are committed to the dream of 450 Committed Heart Heroes. Although 381 AED’s have been placed, 69 FREE AEDs remain, as we’re headed to the finish line. We’ve all come so far and not wavered, because the “FREE AED cause” is so noble and worthwhile.

Heroes Travel in Packs
This picture below in from the Littleton Independent, and says it all… “Littleton winery protects hearts by joining AED program.” The winery is so proud to be withing the group of wineries within the US, to have the kind of protection AEDs offer.

Ron Rubin’s Marathon Chapter
Novella: How FREE AEDs Happened
In 2009, while Ron Rubin was training for his eighth marathon, he simply collapsed. His heart rate spiked abnormally, with the sudden onset of ventricular tachycardia (Cardiac Arrest.). By 2016, he reflected on the seven years that had passed, and he knew it was time to complete the project. It’s not been a swift chapter. Finding those Super Heart Heroes is not as easy as it would seem, because superhero capes are hidden until needed, by those who wear them. Think Super Man!

Slam Dunk for AED placements.
Are You TRAINED FOR SAVING LIVES
With Your Free AED?
Ron Rubin’s father encouraged him to “always give back to the community supporting him.” This commitment gave birth to a TRAINED FOR SAVING LIVES epiphany. (And yes, Ron deliberately wrote it as TRAINED FOR SAVING LIVES.) Rubin imagined enough AEDs to be placed at every winery in Sonoma County… 450 of them, in fact, earlier at the onset of his chapter beginning. As it’s turned out, people around the US are requesting them, no..
Many people we’ve spoken with are delighted to have the opportunity to Be a Heart Hero. The potential to save a life really makes them so positive. Having an AED is an act of potential heroism. You know, the rush that fire people get, just knowing that they can be that level of high service to another human being?

TRAINED FOR SAVING LIVES… Be a Heart Hero
The Unending Marathon
And, We’re Close to The Finish Line!
Only 69 AED’s are left? In 2009, while Ron Rubin was training for what would have been his eighth marathon, he collapsed.Rubin’s heart rate spiked abnormally; he suffered a Cardiac Arrest. And, Ron’s been working toward ending that marathon ever since, calling it his TRAINED FOR SAVING LIVES PROGRAM. Suffering a cardiac Arrest was just the beginning for Ron, though. Being trained by his father to give back to his community, the force was too great to ignore. Ron loves life and still has so many things to accomplish.
For him it was the gift of life, and giving away 450 free ZOLL AED’S ~ after creating a 501 C-3, has had him running ever since. Sixty-nine remain in the program, as he’s had to talk so many wine company executives, around the US, into his process: “Someone must also be certified in CPR to receive and AED, is the only caveat.”

A human resource person considering the safety of the winery crew and guests.
We’re looking for you, winery principles, those of you who want to join the Heart Smart Crowd. Ron is giving the AEDs to anyone with a winery in the United States, and a member of your staff (think about your human resources people. They are at the heart of your winery, and might already know CPR.. Simply Email Ron, and he’ll mail an AED to your winery. The only caveat is someone must be CPR trained; that empathetic person has that important reflex, of “Step aside, I’ve got this”. And, in California, for instance, all fire stations train people for free. Voila!

Greetings! A local winery brought your AED offer to my attention. We would be interested in featuring an AED in our winery tasting room. This is something the fire department requested that we offer. Perhaps, we can now get the fire department to train our staff? Please provide any details on how we can acquire a device.
Thanks, Eddie (Owner of Chateau Grand Traverse)
Greetings, Edward!
It’s very exciting. Ron Rubin will be delighted to get a request from you. It shows great character and integrity, besides empathy.
In California, all Fired Departments are a place to go for training, and it’s free. You might want to talk to you Michigan Fire Chief in your area. If they agreed to train you for free – and let’s face it, they do have time on their hands to sit and wait for that call – if they said yes, I see this as a continuing story development… “Michigan Fire People Step Up to Train Local Winery Personnel, to BE Prepared” The Subtitle, TRAINED FOR SAVING LIVES
All you have to do is send Ron an Email. mailto:ron@riverroadvineyards.com
Let’s get one for YOU, Edward!
