My partner in all things Jose Diaz, and River Road Family Vineyard and Winery’s winemaker Joe Freeman explore what happens to a vineyard after all the grapes of that season have been harvested.

Listen to Joe talking about how the spring of 2012 will tell a winemaker about what’s going to happen during the following year’s growth.

SIDEBAR: Joe’s really looking forward to 2013, after exploring the 2012 spring vines.

This is a great educational video for anyone who loves wine; because great wines do begin in the vineyards, and some of us will enjoy knowing how and why.

The greatest nugget for me in this video is Joe explaining why nutrient deficient soil is a benefit. While this may seem like an oxymoron ideology, it’s not.
