The Vintner’s Luck is a DVD coming out on September 20th, 2010.
I’m going to give you what I got for a press release, because I’ve not seen the movie, so I’m not going to try to even reinvent this one. From Mark Pitchford:
Experience the passion that lies behind the perfect vintage in THE VINTNER’S LUCK, released on DVD on 20th September courtesy of Icon Home Entertainment. Acclaimed New Zealand director Niki Caro (Whale Rider, North Country), Academy Award® nominee Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, The Departed) and Academy Award® nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider, Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith) join forces with Jérémie Renier (Atonement, In Bruges) and Gaspard Ulliel (Hannibal Rising, A Very Long Engagement) for the long awaited adaptation of Elizabeth Knox’s award-winning novel.
A fantasy romance set in 19th century France, THE VINTNER’S LUCK is the passionate tale of Sobran Jodeau (Renier) an ambitious young peasant winemaker and the three loves of his life – his beautiful wife Celeste (Castle-Hughes), the proudly intellectual baroness Aurora de Valday (Farmiga) and Xas (Ulliel), an angel who strikes up an unlikely but enduring friendship. Under Xas’ guidance Sobran is forced to fathom the nature of love and belief and in the process grapples with the sensual, the sacred and the profane – in pursuit of the perfect wine.
It’s time to open your senses and get intoxicated by THE VINTNER’S LUCK this autumn!
Sounds good to me!
If you win, you’ll get it before I do, and you’ll have to tell me if it’s as interesting as it sounds.
So… to win your own copy of the Vintner’s Luck, it’s the same as always on the blog.
Just comment this week. You can enter each day to increase your chances.
This coming Saturday, I’ll pull a name from my Prize Hat, and post on Saturday who the lucky movie goer is going to be. Good luck with it… Get out the popcorn and maybe some tissues… I just don’t know yet.
I think we’re all waiting for the next Sideways. Looks like they latched on to all our marketing using the word “perfect”. Next year I’ll be looking at Napa and Sonoma wineries who refer to 2010 as having the perfect growing season. Hey, why can’t someone make a movie, “Down the Drain,” about a winery that didn’t make it, but, of course, the hero/heroine develops a peace through greater self-awareness in the process?
Jon, I’ve got to get busy with “The Kids Are Alright.” Petite Sirah was brought to a party, and mentioned as such. (Been really busy helping with a new site, about 10,000 words later.)
I’ve got things planned up my sleeve for my PSILY members. Should be really cool… I just have to get going with it.
Jo,
I usually like wine movies. There needs to be another movie as crazy as Sideways.
Lorrie… funny…
Hi Jo:
We have a “wine movie collection” at the Eagles Nest Winery vacation villa we share with guests to keep them in that “wine frame of mind.”
I movie may be a candidate to add to that collection but I hope it doesn’t get too distracted with love between humans and importantly directs necessary screen time towards love between humans and their wine! 😉 (wink!)
Dennis, Cute…
The Vintner’s Luck is an incredibly beautiful film which I saw last year at TIFF 09 in Toronto. The film is a wonderful fantasy about love, wine, and certainly gives you an appreciation for winemaking. Whoever wins this is a lucky person-a true gem of a film!
Thanks for letting us know, Neil. Now, I really want to see it for myself.
Haven’t heard of the movie but you know me, when I love something I tell EVERYBODY! Cheers~
