This is an event that Louis Foppiano asked me to start. We held it at his winery for six years, then we took a year off. After that year, Louis decided that he would let Concannon Vineyard run with it… And, we run we did. Last year was a huge success, just as it had been at Foppiano.

This is my 7th Annual Petite Sirah Symposium blog posting.

The one addition was that a media tasting was created, and my media friends couldn’t have been more delighted.

All of this returns this year as people are beginning to register for the 98 coveted seats.

With Dr. Vino (Tyler Coleman) as our keynote speaker, this year’s symposium promises to be more important and interesting than ever before.

Consider this:

  • When I began keeping records on Petite Sirah, there were sightly over 60 growers and producers of Petite Sirah in California – combined.
  • That was in 2002.
  • Today, only eight years later, there are now 126 growers + 723 producers. That’s 849 companies.

Something is going on, and I know what it is… Winemakers love their Pet Projects… period.

Registrations for the 8th Annual PS Symposium at Concannon Vineyard are now being accepted.
