This is a wine tasting like no other that I’ve attended in San Francisco, with a very festive “street faire” feeling throughout the entire event.

Perhaps that’s because it’s happening in San Francisco’s highly visible Ghirardelli Square, where people come from all around the world. Attendees may not have known about the event prior to, but they become instantly attracted by its potential simply because they’re visiting this area. Others return because it’s a great way to taste lots of California wine without have to travel any further than their own back yard.

The Ghirardelli Square Uncorked! Wine Festival was a huge success last year, as it has been for many years. This year’s details.

In 2009, this event drew over 6,000 people and it will no doubt grow dramatically this year. The 2010 event will again include gourmet food sampling stations, along with wine tasting.

Activities for the event will take place throughout the courtyards of Ghirardelli Square, as well as extend onto Beach Street adjacent to the Square and Aquatic Park. Beach Street will be closed to traffic from 1-6 PM, the hours of the event, to provide additional space to accommodate the large attendance. The day will include wine tastings, food offerings from the Bay Area’s most reputable chefs and restaurants, wine seminars, and live musical entertainment.
