Special Winemaker Reception | Dinner: Tuesday, December 29
This December Suisun Valley wineries will again be participating in weekend celebrations (open to the public); as well as the annual Suisun Valley Vintners & Growers Association hosting their anniversary winemaker reception and dinner.
On Saturday and Sunday, December 26 and 27, Suisun Valley wineries are celebrating this weekend, with the following Suisun Valley wineries being open for this anniversary tasting. Each winery location will be honoring the AVA’s history in its own unique way. A $5 fee (payable on-site at any participating location) will get consumers a logo glass and the ability to taste selected Suisun Valley wines. There are five participating tasting room locations:

On Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at the Clubhouse at Rancho Solano, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., a reception for an appellation wine tasting is scheduled. Many of the wines with Suisun Valley on their labels will be tasted by attendees. At 7:30 p.m., the evening will then segue into a winemaker dinner. Wines featured during the evening are going to be Suisun Valley Appellation, only, with winemakers being given an opportunity throughout the reception and dinner to present their winemaking philosophies, and to talk about their particular wines.

A unique irrigation method for vineyards is forwarded to your attention:
Late autumn irrigation creates a Micro-Climate by providing a cooling dose that simulates early winter conditions. This contributes to earlier budding and earlier harvest.
In the spring, the cloud of humidity formed around the plants by the fine water droplets sprayed
by Vibro-Spreaders, also protects against frost.
The low-pressure / reduced wetting diameter is also effective in dissolving organic manure
and keeping paths clean between the rows, as well as in saving water.
The method was developed in South Africa and been applied to thousands of acres. It utilizes a low-pressure water discharge sprayed from 2 feet over the ground by 50 L/h Vibro-Spreaders plunged directly into PE tube in an upright position
The method is further illustrated and explained in: http://www.ein-tal.com/index.files/Page894.htm .
