Shopping Like it’s $19.99 with Katie

Considering the high price of gas and groceries, I decided to try another brand of boxed wine this week. I discovered the Stamp of Hardy’s 2005 Chardonnay, which is from Australia, at my grocery store for $19.99. Having tried two other wine boxes that I felt were great values, Fish Eye and Killer Juice, I was confident that I’d be pleasantly surprised. Fist off, let’s break down the numbers. The box holds the equivalent of four 750 ml bottles of wine, and is priced at $19.99. That’s roughly $5 per bottle. When I’ve got $130 worth of groceries in my cart, wine at that price is a very good thing – as long as it’s enjoyable, that is.

It actually is enjoyable, which is what makes all of this so great! Enjoyable wine, at a steal of a price, packaged in an environmentally-friendly way. What’s not to love!?

The Stamp of Hardy’s 2005 Chardonnay presents flavors of ripe peach, lightly toasted oak, and green apple. I am so happy that as the weather warms up, a refreshing glass of chilled Chardonnay is readily available inside my refrigerator. It will stay fresh for weeks, so if I want to enjoy it one glass a time, at a snail’s pace, I can. My family will be hosting family from out of town soon, and I’m interested to see what they think of this nifty wine-in-a-box.
