Dark & Delicious Petite Sirah® ~ These are the brands that want you to enjoy Petite

Dark & Delicious Petite Sirah® This coming Friday evening (February 21, 2014) is the Eighth Annual Dark & Delicious event, put on by PS I Love You… a labor of love for all included within this story. (The name says it all, really, doesn’t it?)

Each year, as Jose and I plan this massive Dark & Delicious event together, without the luxury of a full time staff or a paid event planning company that comes in to set up and tear down, this is the time that I’m astounded by the members… Just as I’m organizing the silent auction items, I find myself reflecting on those who support the marketing efforts of Petite Sirah. They’re the greatest gift to Petite that exists. Our wine advocacy group is very small in comparison to other wine groups (about 80 members)… a miniscule dot in the face of the wine world, but we just keep chugging along. I just heard of another small organization that’s probably not going to make it, as hard as they try… It’s the way of the world. Everything in its time; but the smaller we are, the quicker we’ll fall.

The truly dedicated members of PS I Love You rock our Petite world. I ask for auction items… after they’ve paid their entry fee, after they’ve helped support the marketing effort to have this once a year voluptuous wine and gastronomic food extravaganza… and they come through. I’m listing these items for two reasons.

  1. To let people know about the great Petite Sirah offerings that are going up for grabs this coming Friday at Dark & Delicious.
  2. To shine our small spotlight onto those who – against all odds – continue to support the efforts of Petite Sirah awareness.

Today, there are over 1,000 brands that have the name “Petite Sirah” on their labels. Only 12 years ago, you would have been hard pressed to find even 30 of them. What caused this surge? The following brands, pure and simple…
