Melanie’s Wednesday Wines ~ September 12, 2007

Melanie Hoffman

The quintessential little black dress. Classy enough to wear to upscale events and casual enough to wear out with your friends for a cocktail. The best part is you got it for a bargain and no one knows, you get complimented every time you wear it.

That is what these bottles of wine said to me. Unpretentious, yet refined. At a $10.00 price point; practical, yet chic.

Little Black Dress wines really impressed me. Well balanced wines that you can bring to any gathering, whether your friends have sophisticated palates or are just beginning their journey. These wines you can enjoy anytime, because they are so affordable, and tasty. Visit Little Black Dress’ Website at www.lbdwines.com.

Little Black Dress can be found at your most fabulous retail establishments.

Little Black Dress, 2005 Pinot Grigio, California ~ Bright enticing floral nose of Spring jasmine and honeysuckle. Bouquet continues with fresh apricots, mango, and a whisper of vanilla bean. Enjoyably smooth palate displays nectarines and Minneola tangellos. Delicious long lingering finish of juicy grapefruit. $9.99

Little Black Dress, 2005 Chardonnay, California ~ Crisp nose of apples and pears with hints of cedar and cinnamon spice. Vanilla oak rounds out the bouquet of this wine. Smooth mouthfeel and nice oak on the palate. Apple flavors exhibited on the palate as well with the subtle addition of brown sugar. An easy wine to enjoy, clean and long finish. $9.99

Little Black Dress, 2006 Syrah Rosé, California ~ Raspberry heaven, what a bouquet! Added vanilla and pink peppercorn upon a second sniff. Hibiscus flowers and blood oranges round out the nose. Delightful palate, just juicy. A basket full of freshly picked raspberries. A sit on the deck and watch the vineyards in my backyard as I meditate, kind of wine. Dry but fruity with a strawberry jam finish. $9.99

Little Black Dress, 2005 Merlot, California ~ Cherry and dark chocolate notes upfront in the nose that evolve into sweet tobacco and leather. Cranberry and blueberry at the back end of the nose with additional sweet oak aromas. Medium bodied wine with rich notes of cassis and licorice. White pepper on the mid-palate with a full fleshy finish of fresh mulberries. An easy sipper. A wine to enjoy with friends, and they’ll think you spent a lot. $9.99
