Belvedere Winery, 2005 Pinot Noir, RRV, $29 – Bright bing cherries emanate with touches of sweet cream in the nose; nice acid balance on the palate. This medium-bodied wine has a jammy cherry palate; hints of pomegranate round out the finish.
Davis Bynum, 2004 Pinot Noir, RRV, $30 – Plums and black cherry stand out in the nose with creamy oak and dark cocoa; nose follows palate with bright acid and good tannin structure. A hint of earthiness and saddle leather lingers in the finish.
Foppiano Vineyards, 2005 Pinot Noir, RRV, $30 – Juicy cherries covered with chocolate in the nose, develop into a sweet caramel aroma with hints of vanilla. Jammy berry and red currants on the palate with a soft finish of vanilla bean ice cream.
J Wines, 2004 Pinot Noir, RRV, $32 – Jammy blueberry nose with just a suggestion of fresh ground Guatemalan coffee. Round juicy plums on the palate with lively acids and a toasty vanilla oak finish. Good tannins and well balanced.
Hop Kiln, 2004 Pinot Noir, HK, RRV, $36 – Black currant and a whisper of earthy forest floor in the nose, smooth creamy vanilla up-front on the palate develops into black cherry with touches of blood orange. Soft round palate shows nice balance of oak and good tannin structure.
Kendall-Jackson, 2004 Pinot Noir, $35 – Plums and saddle leather are prominent in the nose which evolves into rich espresso and berry pie. Palate follows nose with added rich cherry and cedar spice. Lingering sweet oak and soft tannins finish this quaffer.
La Crema, 2005 Pinot Noir, RRV, $34 – Spring orchard cherry blossoms fill the nose with light cedar and white pepper. Ripe plum fruit, mint and new leather up front on the palate with bright acid, good tannins and an easy toasty oak finish.
Mayo Family Wines, 2005 Pinot Noir, RRV, $35 – Cherry pie a la mode in the nose, fruit forward palate, sweet creamy vanilla and berry tart with lingering loganberry. Vibrant acid and good tannin structure.
Moshin Vineyards, 2005 Pinot Noir, RRV, $30 – Huge fruity nose, pow! Cherries, cherries, and more cherries fill the senses. Soft oak and hints of peppermint in the finish. Full mouthfeel, soft tannins, and a subtle caramel finish.
Rodney Strong, 2005 Pinot Noir, RRV, $22 – Opens with raspberry jammy nose with suggestions of eucalyptus and maple syrup. Light oak and soft tannins on the palate with more jammy raspberries and a rich creamy finish.
Sunce, 2004 Pinot Noir, Rodella Vineyard, RRV, $34 – Creamy and jammy with plum tree blossoms and sweet oak in the nose, soft tannins on the palate with lingering cherry fruit.
Taft Street, 2005 Pinot Noir, $18 – Red raspberry and sweet cream nose, soft tannins and bright red fruits dominate the palate; jammy raspberry finish.
